A Bad Working Experience with Networker Cara McClure Black

I have been working for a client named Cara McClure Black for quite awhile… At first she was comedic and funny which isn’t very new really with people that I get to work with online. I have had a few projects with her mainly doing banners and for awhile had the chance to do SEO for her.

She’s been fine despite the delayed payments for a week or so for three months that I’ve worked with her, but I have always been considerate enough with her reasons (which sounded like an excuse to me)  not until she asked me to have a project for her son lately whom I have to do several projects with that amounted to about $280.00 which hasn’t been pad yet for running two months now. I have been skeptical with working with her with the last project since her last payment for her SEO requirements were delayed for over a week or so, however since I’ve been dealing with her for quite awhile. I just let it pass instead and considered doing the graphic projects as she required.  She’s have had all the promises to even at a point gave me a specific date and yet didn’t cover it and instead told me that she just told me she’s covering it by then so she can shut me up. How professional is that?!! Some conversations we had over the matter hasn’t been saved since she’s never been on Skype a lot lately… if she were i wouldn’t knew but messages from facebook weren’t responded to and of course facebook chatbox doesn’t give you the privilege to save conversation history.

The reason I believe she’s not covering it (though she says the not usage of his son has nothing to do with the payment) is because her son ain’t using them at all, to which i mentioned that if there were any revisions, it could have been done, but over a month with no revision requests simply meant that everything in the project is simply fine… And it makes me wonder why would the “my son ain’t using it” reason would come up after a month? why would that even come up after a month then? I even asked as to why it has to be brought up after a certain period of time if that was the issue after all coz if there were revisions at some point, it could’ve been addressed earlier…

Going through this… i felt totally annoyed as it seems as if I am the one who’s being offensive when I needed to beg for a service I didn’t ask for.  And going through the dates since the project started and the reasons she’s giving me, no professional would ever reason out that they have to sell chairs on Craigslist to cover for this and that like and make it sound like it is my problem that I did a project for her after all… To even at this point where it’s already the 7th of May, I still am not getting any decent action over the matter.  She’s mentioned she’s covering for the invoice… but i guess i’m not getting it anytime soon.  If you were in my shoe, wouldn’t you get angered as well… we all have dues and responsibilities… if you can’t be responsible with people you owe with, how much more can you put credibility on the business you’re proposing to other people… especially in the networking arena where credibility and trust to your upline head counts most.

Till now… I left a message on Facebook chatbox… the only one I’ve done a screen capture of… so far…

A Sad Experience With A Client Named Sheila Peake (LaFayeMonea Photography & Design)

Every now and then we get to meet people who don’t have any manners at all.

I have been tasked to create a logo for a client named Sheila Peake who owns LaFayeMonea Photography & Design. The conversation started when she requested to have me add her on Skype that later went into exchanging emails over the project on the 20th of March, 2011. I mentioned in my email about my charges to which  I even agreed to create her a logo for $50 — YES! $50… after all, it could be that she’s on a budget. I’m pretty easy to talk to anyway.

From here on, the project went on for about 10 days when the turnover time could have only been 3 days at most due to the undecisive changes that led to several revisions based on her requirements on LM Fonts Final which was patterned from what I have submitted. She later decided to have a logo that finally fits her business which is this LaFayeMonea logo

As completed and approved, she later then required for another logo since she’s willing to pay for another for $25.00 which got me confused since we both have agreed on a certain amount of price. Well of course, $50 for a logo is really way to cheap to begin with… I clarified this matter and she mentioned she’s misunderstood it… and here’s the conversation we had on Skype clarifying my terms and fees.

The project went on since I have to keep my word of honor and finish the logo we’ve discussed with… she even required for the PSD which is so unethical to ask, but i didn’t mind and gave her the copy… Suddenly, everything turned around. The logo was forwarded along with the invoice and to my dismay, no response came from her either through email nor over skype over the matter after a few days since the project was completed.

Frankly, it’s only a cheap amount of money… but my point here is, if you can’t do business well with a penny, how much more can you do with big projects?

Up until the 10th and after this conversation I haven’t still gotten any response over the matter.

Finally, I got response and payment on the 16th of April which makes it more than a month since the completed material was forwarded.

It was just unfair for some of my regular clients who’s been paying diligently on time. However, we do meet some clients from time to time who simply cannot be diligent in terms of paying in a timely manner…. Lucky for me however, the small amount was covered even after a month…  Though I do understand that we all are busy at times, but somehow we also have to figure out that though it may be a small amount of money, it can go a long way for those who are diligently doing their services among their clients for their bread and butter.

A lot of freelancers get to experience this from time to time… so if you are one of those, you may send your complaints to either over clients who are paying on delay and some are not being paid throughout. You can report your issues on IC3′s for criminal complaints regarding the rapidly expanding arena of cyber crime http://www.ic3.gov/ or you can email http://www.consumerfraudreporting.org/for any fraudulent acts.
